The short version
Kenko lives in your MacBook's notch and shows you what your Claude Code and Codex sessions are doing. It has no account and no analytics. What it reads on your Mac stays on your Mac. The only personal detail we ever receive is the email you give Stripe when you buy it.
Who runs this
Kenko and this website are made and run by Carlos Lastres. Write to carlos@intdesign.jp about anything on this page.
What the app does on your Mac
- To show your sessions it reads, on your Mac only, the session files and transcripts Claude Code and Codex keep in
~/.claudeand~/.codex: which sessions are running, the tool each one is using, the lines changed in the current turn, its last message, and your plan limits. None of it is sent anywhere. - When you press Connect, it adds its hook entries to
~/.claude/settings.jsonand~/.codex/hooks.json, and wraps your Claude Code status line so it can read your limits. It saves a backup of each file in~/.kenko/backupsfirst. Disconnect removes exactly the entries it added. Approvals and answers travel over a local socket on your Mac and never leave it. - Your license key is saved in
~/.kenko/licenseand checked on your Mac, without going online. - The only request the app makes on its own is an update check: it fetches
kenkoisland.com/appcast.xmlto see whether a newer version exists. Like any web request, it shows your IP address to our server. We do not store or log it.
Buying Kenko
- You pay through Stripe, which handles your card details under its own privacy policy. We never see your card number.
- We receive the email address you give Stripe and whether the payment went through. We use them only to issue your license key and to answer you if you write to us. Your email is written into your key, so you can tell whose key it is.
- Nothing about your purchase is stored on this website. Your key is made again from your Stripe receipt each time the thanks page asks for it. That page runs no analytics, because its address carries your purchase id.
This website, cookies and your choice
kenkoisland.com can use Google Analytics to count visits, so we can tell whether anyone is finding the page. When it runs, it sets cookies in your browser and reports your visit to Google, including the pages you view, where you came from, your browser and device type, and a rough location that Google works out from your IP address. It runs on these web pages only. It is not in the app.
- If your browser's time zone is in Europe, a banner asks on your first visit whether we can count it. Until you choose Allow, nothing is loaded from Google and no analytics cookie is set.
- Everywhere else, Google Analytics counts your visit without asking first. You can turn it off at any time, and it stays off in this browser.
- Your choice is saved in your own browser, in local storage, under
kenko-analytics-consent. Clearing your browser data clears it. - You can change your mind at any time: open cookie settings. Switching to No thanks also removes the analytics cookies already set.
The website is hosted on Cloudflare, which keeps standard request logs (IP address, time, page requested) for security and to keep the site running. The fonts are served from this site, so loading a page does not contact a font service.
Your requests
There are no accounts, so apart from the email on your purchase we hold nothing that points back to you by name. If you want to know what we have, want it deleted, or have any other privacy request, write to carlos@intdesign.jp and we will handle it by hand. If you are in the EU or the UK you also have the right to complain to your local data protection authority.
Children
Kenko is a developer tool and is not directed at children under 16. It asks for no age, name or other personal detail. If you believe a child has sent us something, write to us and we will delete it.
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this address with a new date.
